Topeka Highlights Precision Ag
Scott Dawson headed indoors to the Stormont Vail Events Center in Topeka, KS to kick off the new year of trade show events. Topeka Farm Show draws in over 30,000 attendees to talk with vendors about equipment, investments and everything agriculture. In talking with several of our own partners, farmers faced tough weather last year but despite the conditions, it was still a solid year for equipment dealers.
In fact, the vendor attendance increased by about 20% with over 600 booths showing. The easy-going atmosphere was a great opportunity to network and learn more about the expanding, high tech services that are being offered as technology is critical to ag success these days.
As more farmers in the area see the benefit on yield, the precision ag rates will increase which could be good for precision ag sales over the next several years. The pendulum swings for the need of technical jobs, as growers don’t have the training.
Although there were challenges in 2019, most vendors showed an increase in sales leaving the outlook for 2020 to be solid, but still with concern.
