Pit Stop Lessons: Finish the Race
At Northland Capital, we pick a theme for the year. Our team looks forward to the unveiling and working together to achieve a common goal. This year, our focus is “finish the race.” Our team got creative with racing flags, team shirts, and “shake and bake” from the movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
We can glean a variety of lessons on success from pit crews; here are a few that I shared with our team:
- Races are won in the pit.
The driver may receive the accolades, but it takes the whole team working together to win the race. - Know your role.
Everyone on the team has a key part to play and understand how it supports the ultimate goal. - Do fewer things — better.
Great pit stops limit what they’re doing to increase speed and accomplish the goal (of getting back on the track.)
I am thankful for our pit crew and our company’s ongoing commitment “to honor God by being faithful stewards of the gifts he has entrusted us with to enrich the lives of our customers, partners, and employees.”
This past year brought its challenges with a slowing economy, rising interest rates and the banking industry pulling back. Yet, thanks to our team and our customers, we had our best year ever.
It is my hope that no matter what 2024 brings you and your team, you know you can depend on the Northland Capital Pit Crew. We all have our own race and it’s our pleasure to help you finish yours in 2024.
“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” – Timothy 4:7
God bless and Happy New Year!
