2025 Academic Scholarship Recipients

Northland Capital scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors pursuing a degree in higher education who attain excellence in scholastic achievement, leadership, and community involvement. Congratulations on our recipient’s achievements and dedication as they grow academically, athletically and as a worth more person overall.

Addison Reis

With a heart for service and a passion for helping others, Addison Reis has spent her high school years leading by example. A graduate of Albany High School and daughter of Director of Business Development Cathy Reis, Addison is involved with National Honor Society, volunteered in her church and community, and held leadership roles on the volleyball team. She works at Albany Elementary Kid’s Company, where she’s a trusted, positive role model for children. “Knowing I’m someone they look up to means the world to me,” she shared. Addison has been on the A Honor Roll all four years, earned academic letters annually, and graduated with honors. This fall, she’ll attend Minnesota State University Moorhead to major in Elementary Education and continue making a positive impact in the lives of others.

Gavin O’Connell

Gavin O’Connell, son of Account Representative Dan O’Connell, is a Sartell High School graduate, where he excelled in academics while also serving as a captain for both the Cross Country and Nordic Skiing teams. He led team training and mentored teammates in both sports, and qualified for the State Nordic Ski meet his senior year. “Whether it was running 300 miles in the summer or roller skiing in the offseason, I’ve learned that consistency and effort matter—and that’s true in both athletics and academics,” he shared. Gavin’s dedication to learning and leadership reflects the values of integrity, commitment, and excellence. He will pursue a degree in Culinology at Southwest Minnesota State University.

Isabelle Dawson

Isabelle is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, where she has learned to embrace challenges and set long-term goals. She served as president of the French Club, developed strong communication and adaptability skills as a Starbucks barista and recently began volunteering at the Tri-County Humane Society, deepening her interest in behavior and care. “I’ve always looked up to how hardworking my dad is—he’s been a big influence on how I approach school and work,” she shared. Isabelle’s curiosity, discipline, and commitment to growth will serve her well as she continues her education in Clinical Psychology at Arizona State. Isabelle is the daughter of Scott Dawson, Director of Business Development, and a graduate of Tech High School.

Timothy Marcus

With a strong commitment to personal growth, Timothy Marcus is heading to Central Lakes College to study heavy equipment operation and maintenance. The Monticello High School graduate, and son of Accounts Receivable Associate Vaughn Marcus, participated in Unified activities supporting students with special needs and served as a youth services assistant in a nature-based learning program. He also played baseball and says being raised in a Christian home has shaped his values of integrity and perseverance. “School has always been hard for me, but I never gave up,” Timothy shared. His determination to continue his education and build a strong foundation for the future will guide him as he takes the next step toward a career in the trades.

Zoey Weappa

A dedicated student and hard worker, Zoey Weappa has balanced academics, extracurriculars, and part-time jobs throughout high school. She participated in gymnastics, dance, art club, and yearbook, and gained valuable experience working at Country Manor Nursing Home, where she often leads the dietary team. She also earned Dean’s List honors through the PSEO program at St. Cloud Community College. “I’ve prepared for my goals by enrolling in college courses early and beginning my military journey with a recruiter,” she shared. Zoey, daughter of Senior Associate of Equipment Evaluation Brian Weappa, plans to pursue a nursing degree at the University of North Dakota with the goal of serving others—and her country.
